Toen onze verre voorouders migreerden vanuit Afrika naar Europa en Azië, kwamen ze ook in contact met andere mensachtigen. Deze verre verwanten, zoals de Neanderthalers zijn nu uitgestorven, maar hun DNA leeft voort in het DNA van hun nakomelingen. Gemiddeld bestaat 1-4% van het DNA van de Kaukasiers uit Neanderthaler DNA. Uit onderzoek blijkt dat 2,0% van mijn DNA afkomstig is van de Neanderthaler. Monique had verwacht dat ik vééééééééél meer Neanderthaler DNA zou hebben
